How To Create Virtual Wifi Hotspot In Windows 7

Imagine a situation when you were staying at a hotel on a business trip and the hotel offered free internet access via ethernet (not wireless) and you want to connect an Ipad,Android or similar device..?

Well follow this guide and setup your own wireless access point,thereby making the connection available to any WiFi capable device.

Step 1

Select "Start" and then in the search box type "cmd" or "windows command prompt".This shall open the windows command prompt option.Right click that and select Run as Administrator

Step 2

Now after opening the windows command prompt type in the following command '' netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=yash key=password '' and press enter


Note:Do not change the typing of the commands,type as per the spaces.Here ''ssid=yash'' this will be your created wireless network's connection name,''key=password'' this will be your created wireless network's password and these can be changed according to your choice.

Step 3

Now type " netsh wlan start hostednetwork " and press enter


Step 4 

Go to ''Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center - change adapter settings'' and select your working internet connection,Right click on it and select properties.In properties select the sharing tab.After doing this check the box "Allow other network users to connect to this computer's internet connection".then in the home networking connections box select your newly created wifi connection.


Now you can share your PC or Laptop network to any WiFi capable device ! Enjoy !

If you would like to to turn it off u can do it by typing " netsh wlan stop hostednetwork " and to check its running status type " netsh wlan show hostednetwork " in windows command prompt.

For some reasons the above steps might not work to all users but no need to panic.Below are the list of software's,can be used to create virtual wifi hotspot automatically.
